Day 1 - Atacama

Transfer from the Calama Airport to your hotel in Atacama, where you will spend 5 nights. Breakfast is included every morning and it’s only a short trip to the desert. After checking in, you’re thrown straight into the action; you have the choice of going to Valle de la Luna for a yoga session or sandboard at Valle de la Muerte, a unique and memorable experience. Following this, you’ll head back to the hotel for the night.

Day 2 - Atacama

It’s an early morning as you’ll be going on a bike tour of Laguna Cejar, where you have the opportunity to swim (and float) in the salty lagoon, certainly a highlight of the trip for many visitors. Later, you’ll ride toward the North and Garganta del Diablo, a large, rocky gorge where you can explore caves and canyons. That night you’ll be treated to a stargazing experience and use high quality telescopes, learning all about the night skies from a local expert.

Day 3 - Atacama

You’ll be up at 4.30am to head off on the hour and a half journey to the Geysers of the Tatio, where a guided tour is organized. Why so early? Well the best time to view these natural wonders is as the sun is rising and the magma close to the surface warms the cold air and create steam. Make sure you bring your camera because it’s an amazing sight. Enjoy breakfast with the geysers in view before heading back and stopping at the small town of Machuca on the way.

Day 4 - Atacama

Today you’ll have the opportunity to go trekking to various volcano sights, including Lascar, and Licancabur. Otherwise you can choose to making your way to the soaring Cerro Toco, the highest mountain in the region. Get ready for amazing views all around and expect to be physically challenged as these treks are no walk in the park!

Day 5 - Atacama

You’ll head East towards Salar de Tara, passing by some breathtaking scene along the journey including the Licancabur volcano and crossing the Andes mountain range. There are various stops along the way including the Quepiaco Wetlands, which is thriving with amazing aquatic birds, and Pujas Salt Lake, the home of thousands of flamingoes. After passing by miles of rocky terrain you’ll come to Tara’s Salt Lake, which is teaming with wildlife and makes for some great views with the large rock formations and the Andes looming behind it. After enjoying lunch, you’ll head back toward San Pedro and onto your next destination!
